私の絵は一見関連性の無いモチーフを組み合わせる事が多いです。例えば豹と花と螺旋階段とか。実はこれは落語の三題噺を参考にしています。三題噺とは落語の寄席で3人のお客さんから各一つずつテーマをもらい即興で落語家がそのテーマを入れた話を作るという奴です(落語あまり知らないけど)。私の絵の場合、各テーマはなんとなく閃いた物を使うので何故その組み合わせなのか私自身にもよく分かりません。逆に先に明確なテーマを決めると想像力を制限される様で苦しくなります。とりあえずお客さんがその奇抜な組み合わせから自由に何かを想像してくれたらそれで良いかなぁと思ってます。
My paintings often combine seemingly unrelated motifs such as leopards, flowers and spiral staircases. Actually, this is based on the “three topics stories” at Rakugo. Rakugo storyteller sometimes performs a rakugo story on the spot based on three topics given by the audience (I’m not familiar with it, though). In case of my works, each topic uses something that sparks on my brain, so I don’t think deeply why I combined them. Rather, definite theme or topic limit my range of imagination and it makes me suffer. Anyways I think it’s okay if the observers can freely imagine something from its peculiar combination 🙂
